The Campaign for the Arts is an independent charity, supported by citizens who care about the arts and public access to them.
We are objective, non-profit and non-partisan
We’ll always advocate for the arts, and never for any particular party or candidate.
Our analysis is free from political influence and informed by the best available evidence.
We welcome supporters from across the political spectrum who share in our vision of a society in which the benefits of the arts and culture are valued and available to all, and everyone’s creative potential is unlocked.
We are a registered charity, and our work is governed by charity law. This means that all our activities are designed to serve our charitable purposes, which are “to promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the public by the encouragement and promotion of the Arts”.
How we’re funded
Most of our funding comes from monthly and one-off donations by supporters. We use donations to pay for the staffing and other costs of:
- researching and understanding the issues affecting the arts;
- championing the benefits of the arts through our stories and campaigns, online and in the media;
- publishing data and reports;
- encouraging everyone, from individuals to businesses and governments, to play a positive role for the arts;
- acknowledging outstanding achievements in local arts and culture, through our Hearts for the Arts awards;
- developing the Arts Map, our digital platform linking UK citizens with local cultural organisations;
- updating our supporters via email and social media;
- running our organisation, ensuring that our finances are well-managed and controlled.
