A report from the University of Warwick, with the Campaign for the Arts, found that the UK’s arts and culture sector was in crisis, with the government cutting culture budgets by 6 per cent since 2010. This compares to an increase in spending of up to 70 per cent in countries such as Germany and France. “The UK’s arts sector is running on empty,” says Jack Gamble, director of the Campaign for the Arts.
