Jack Gamble, director, Campaign for the Arts:

In the first half of 2025, the chancellor will set spending limits for each government department up to April 2028. The amount that’s given to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport will affect, among other things, the income of Arts Council England. That, in turn, will have an impact on the funding available in the next national portfolio round and the number of organisations that can be supported. It’s going to be a vital time to campaign for the arts – not just because the industry urgently needs more investment, but because artists and organisations have a huge contribution to make, to millions of lives and to the government’s own plans.
