Speaking prior to the budget to Arts Professional, Campaign for the Arts founder Jack Gamble had said Reeves’ announcement would “come at a moment of real jeopardy for the UK’s arts sector”.

Identifying “significant threats to provision, access and the sustainability of arts careers” across the country, Gamble had called for expansions to creative industries tax relief, particularly in the wake of the government’s decision to identify the sector as an area of key economic growth potential.
