Leading arts and education sector organisations are scrutinising a school accountability measure, saying its proposed reform could perpetuate the “low value” given to arts subjects.
As the Department for Education ends its consultation on Progress 8, which is currently weighted towards the former EBacc subjects, Equity, Campaign for the Arts and the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM) maintain the proposed new system could continue to reinforce a hierarchy of subjects, in which the arts sit below the rest.
