Campaign for the Arts director Jack Gamble has warned that local authorities’ investment in culture is “gravely at risk”.

Discussing Campaign for the Arts’ ongoing mission to champion and defend access to arts and culture, Gamble admitted “local authorities are a huge worry for us”.

He said local authorities’ abilities to fund culture initiatives were being hampered by “increased costs and increased demands, particularly on social care, squeezing out all other kinds of spending”, as well as central government cuts.
