The Scottish Government has abandoned plans for a £7million cut to arts funding in Scotland.
It follows an emergency campaign launched by the Campaign for the Arts last Thursday. Hundreds of people used our resources to send a message to their representatives, thousands signed and shared our petition, and our social media posts were seen half a million times.
Reacting to the news, Jack Gamble, Director of the Campaign for the Arts, said:
“Investment in the arts supports the livelihoods of thousands and the wellbeing of millions. This vital result is down to all those who spoke out and showed their support for culture in Scotland. The Scottish Government has listened, and it has done the right thing. It’s proof that change is possible when we come together to make it happen.”

I would like to appeal against the proposed cuts.
Art is so necessary to humanity.
Especially in these times.
we need arts
It is necessary to feed the people but feeding the soul is just as important. The Arts and Culture is a necessity. It separates us from animals. Humans need this. Please do not cut funding.
